VIEWS OF LE FOULON

I Do! Roy and Jenny used a non-denominational celebrant, who is actually a Spaniard living in Monaco blessing an English couple in France, how very cosmopolitan!

The first kiss!

Roy and Jenny - the happy couple

One of many photo opportunities - the photographer was in his element and didnt know where to shoot first!

The view onto the courtyard from on-high - a great space for any special occasion

It may have been a non-denominational wedding, but the fountain looked rather font like bathed in candle light.

Before the wedding party arrived back from an afternoon bobbing about the Med aboard a yacht we got these photographs of the courtyard lit up with candles. Very romantic!

The first dance

A romantic dance underneath the chestnut tree

The large lounge and bar area.

Star Trek skies are a regular feature au Foulon. This is taken from our dining room balcony, a great spot for doing nothing but soaking in the view and sipping a drink.

Nearby Gourdon is regularly voted as the prettiest village in France, which is saying something. The large chateau has a musuem dedicated to its history, as well as a second museum of modern art and contemporary furniture. A very impressive collection.

Gourdon is almost 1000 metres above the Cote d Azur

Gourdon has several very good restaurants ideal for a sunny lunch

Gourdon, ten minutes drive with far reaching views down to the coast. Quite often hazy in the summer months, otherwise you can clearly see Nice airport to the East, Cagnes sur Mer, Antibes and the Cap d Antibes and all the way West to Cannes and La Napoule.

The Eagles Nest restaurant, Gourdon. Amazing view, amazing building.

Gourdon - the square named after Queen Elizabeth - a big fan of the village and this part of Provence.

The balcony that leads from our dining room over looks the land as well as our barbecue area

Alfresco dining with a view - this is our barbecue terrace

Five minutes helicopter transfer from Nice airport - around 500 euros for 5 people, which is about 70 pounds each for one hell of a holiday treat. Its simply the ONLY way to travel!

We collect your luggage in the Discovery and bring you a glass of champagne as you return to terra firma

The pilots fly as smoothly as possible - but you should see them when they return empty - exciting stuff

Waving goodbye to their lucky friends (and wondering why they got left with the hire car!)

Pierre and Michelle from Vancouver having their wedding reception at Le Foulon. There have been hundreds of weddings at Le Foulon in the past, but this was our first. Everything went smoothly, from the blessing in the local chapel, to the 4 course meal, the party to the week long holiday. It was the perfect way to start a new history of marriage celebrations at the new Foulon.

The groom Pierre looks on as a studious cousin decides an appropriate message for the wedding book.

Ready for the big event

The bride looked amazing in a simple yet elegant dress

About as romantic as a room gets - or at least we hope so!

The entire perimeter of the dining room, as well as our globe drinks trolley full of after dinner tipples, was highighted by hundreds of candles

The dining room fire place ready to receive the wedding reception

A big thank you to Pierre and Michelle for having their wedding at Le Foulon and allowing me to put these pictures on our web site. Great people.

The first dance

The wedding party in full swing

The bar is formed by a single piece of highly polished Elm, courtesy of Greenwich market about 10 years ago!

On Christmas day the dining room was witness to quite an obscene level of glutony.

Is it art, or is it just an over-exposed picture of a decorated vase?

A great place to celebrate Christmas - a huge tree, roaring fires, and someone else to do all the cooking and washing up!

Our lounge-bar at night. The perfect cosy spot for a cocktail or two.

Looking stright up from the top of a our driveway. This small peak (relatively small - at 943 metres it is still two thirds the height of Ben Nevis), known as Bau de St Jean, was once part of the Domaine du Foulon.

Total gridlock!

Fly me to the moon!

The autumnal reds are quite amazing

You start de-stressing as soon as you arrive on our land.

Autumn 2005. One of the prettiest times of year.

Our autumnal driveway

Coming from the French Riviera on the D3 (35 minutes from Nice airport) its impossible to miss us

Mount Cheiron as viewed from the Cheiron Suite - it rises to 1800 metres and is snow capped through most of the winter

A great view to accompany dinner

The view from the bar is two storeys high and over looks our field and the Castle of Greolieres high on the hill

Ian and Mary Landan setting off in their TR3 - kudos for touring Europe without even the option of a roof!

The water fountain is fed from a mountain spring and is as refreshing as that sounds

The driveway is dominated by an ancient horse chestnut

Your first view of Le Foulon - unless of course you arrive by chopper

The pool decking juts out from the terrace, forming a balcony overlooking the land

The mountain in the background is called the Gros Pounch - provencal dialect for big belly!

The private dining room (for guests only) has a broad panorma of the land and a balcony for early evening aperitifs

The dining room forms one big open plan space with the lounge and bar areas

In the winter months there is nothing better than a hearty meal round an open fire

Aston launched the DB9 here, so it was something of a home coming when one of our lucky guests brought this gleaming example to Le Foulon for a few days

hmmm, easyjet or aston, that must have taken all of seconds to decide!

Ivor doing a very passable tea-pot impression!

Nothing overlooks the pool, you simply look over the world

The pool at night looking back to Le Foulon - pity modern digital cameras arent too great with low light shots

The Riviera Classic Car Club came to lunch one Sunday in May

Johns almost mint Karmann Ghia and a THE tr to have - 4aIRS

Arrive in style

Lovely boat tail Alfa

We usually keep the front space clear of cars, but sometimes make an exception

Focus on the red one and you wont even notice whats next to it!

Its not Johns E Type, and yes that is a hand bag

The resort of Greolieres Les Neiges (15 mins drive from Le Foulon) had a superb season in 2005. Plus we can see our house from here, as well as the Med!

The large, comfortable lounge areas have a real sense of history

The inglenook room

The entrance hall

Imagine yourself sipping a cocktail with a sunset streaming through the window.

Also known to be a dance floor.

Dinner party ambience

The original tiles came up brilliantly

The original staircase dates back to the turn of the century

An exceptional snow fall, winter 2005

The fantastically cheesy original sign - inspiration for our gothic style logo

Simply the only way to travel sweetie

Great value and very, very cool

From just £75 per person one way from Nice (5 sharing, summer 2004)

A gorgeous view from Le Foulon

16 acres and mountain views around every corner

We are reinstating an ancient trout farm at the far end of our land

Arriving in style - the French way

The road above Greolieres village, as seen in James Bond and the great car chase in the film Ronin

Fantastc x19 on the Ralle de Vence

Alpine on the Ralle de Vence

Haute Greolieres - abandoned in the middle ages

A country walk and lunch in Cipieres - perfect

Our dogs Enzo and Béné can be used as guides to the nearby village of Cipieres, and are very cheap!

The clocktower in nearby Cipieres

Black bees make great honey

Just a small part of our garden

Le Foulon in the spring is a special place

Poppies grow wild here

We occasionally have horses on our field, and there are nearby stables with some lovely trails

The lounge/bar area

Classic cars are well looked after here.
