ALL YOU WANT FROM A HOLIDAY?

Le Foulon has a truly rare location. 10 minutes drive through the breathtaking Gorge du Loup we are situated in the Vallée du Loup (Valley of the Wolf) with a 360 degree panorama of forest and mountain. Apart from a small cultivated field about a mile away and Gréolières castle in the distance there's little sign of mankind's presence.

And yet we are just 35 minutes scenic drive from Nice International airport, or just 5 minutes by great value Helicopter transfer - prices start at just £75 per person. There are a host of sporting activities close by, and all the Cote d'Azur has to offer is within easy reach.

Owned and managed by myself, Nick Vyse, and my partner Mia Strudwick, these were very compelling reasons for us to sell up in England, leave desk life, and try something new. Having travelled widely, and with careers in travel and tourism, we were convinced that a get away from it all property, with the personal touch, just 2 hours low cost flight from most UK airports would be a success (click here for a list of airlines that serve Nice from the UK).

In our increasingly stressed lives back home we didn't want to spend precious holiday time travelling for hours, and whilst experiencing other peoples cultures had certainly been rewarding, it could also prove exhausting.

With this in mind Le Foulon is all about pampering our guests, providing them with good service, catering for every need, and understanding that for some there is nothing better than a good read round the pool, whilst for others a day spent karting, walking the Canyon du Verdon or exploring a medieval village couldn't be more therapeutic. From the ultimate in relaxation to the ultimate in adrenalin fueled sports, amazing walks to amazing museums, all can be enjoyed a la Foulon.

But whatever our guests choose to do, there's nothing better than chatting about it over a good meal, and we aim to provide gastronomic dining in a very chilled atmosphere.

Talking of civilised atmospheres, Le Foulon is an infant free hotel and if you wish to bring older children please respect that Le Foulon is first and foremost a place to relax in the day and occasionally be loud at night. Of course, if you rent Le Foulon as a self-catered villa then you can bring as many children as you like as there's no one to disturb except yourselves!

And why not have a party at La Foulon? Our entertaining and dining area is the perfect space, and we can arrange for any of the little extras to make your special evening even more memorable. Le Foulon could have been made for partying, and it's not like we have any close neighbours to disturb - although you wouldn't want to upset a wild boar (insert your own party joke here...).

But the best thing Le Foulon has to offer is 16 acres of untouched Alpine countryside, bordered on one side by the river Loup and on another by its fast flowing tributary the Ganiere. We are restoring an old fresh water crayfish farm that's fed from one of the springs, as well as a large lake that was originally a trout farm.

Restoration has begun on Le Foulon's trout farm

Le Foulon was once a restaurant famed for its fresh trout and cray fish and in the not too distant future these delicacies will once again be on the menu.

As you would imagine there are plenty of places to lose yourself in, and some beautiful walks right on the door step. To the north we have the stunning Montagne du Cheiron. One part of its near vertical face is called Les Miroirs and it can be seen gleaming from the coast. It also has the effect of making the surrounding sky the deepest blue imaginable.

Or you can take an easier stroll to the nearby villages of Cipieres or Greolieres for a lazy Provencal lunch. However you like to enjoy yourself on holiday, Le Foulon and the surrounding area has it covered.
