We uncovered this original archway into the building - probably used for farm machinery way back when

Every year at the end of May nearby Bar sur Loup holds the fete du chien - a lovely day out if you are a dog lover, with about 30 different hunting dogs displayed, a good lunch and some real local culture

14 Apr 09. The lake is constantly fed by a diversion from the river Gagniere - a tributary of the river Loup that marks the Western border of our garden.

After 30 minutes walk above the Foulon this is one of the views you are rewarded with - looking west along the valley of the wolf to the source of the river.

All our bathrooms are very modern and stylish without sacrificing comfort our practicality. You will want to know the secret of our showers - they are that good.

The Alpes-Maritimes (the department that fits the bottom right hand corner of France and includes the Cote d Azur) has more species of butterfly and moth, many of them unique, than anywhere else in Europe. This is one of the more bizarre creations.

The 3 suites and the Fablo and Gertrude rooms have a mini bar (concealed here in an antique sewing machine cabinet), plus a tassimo hot drinks system for tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Four of our rooms feature iron framed beds made by a local artisan - they can be left separate or connected to be equally comfortable as a super king sized double or two twins.

All 3 suites and the Gertrude and Fablo luxury rooms have a small but well sounding iPod dock/alarm clock radio. Also, all our rooms have brushed aluminium bed-side lights - just touch the metal and they come on, which saves you fumbling for a switch in the darkness.

The inglenook fireplace is a nice quiet haven during the summer and a warm cosy one in the winter.

The Foulon is an imposing 4 storey building (5 with the mezzanines) and quite unique in the area

The wood is a special outdoor specific pine called meleze - like teak it has since silvered with age

A champagne reception on the barbecue deck - we have since added shade along the whole length of the table that seats over 20 people.

You arrive on this courtyard level, with one storey of Le Foulon going up and 2 down.

Just down the road from here this is the route to Courmes and a great lunch at the Auberge. Looking south this is the Gorges du Loup - and a 41 year old BMW still going strong.

Only 5 minutes flying time from Nice Airport and we will meet you on the field with a bottle of champers - a great start to your holiday

To the north of Le Foulon the peak of the Cheiron rises to 1800 metres and is snow capped through the winter months

We have recently added black out blinds to the velux - whilst the view is breathtaking some guests wanted to stay in the comfy bed so long they requested some darkness!

The mezzanine level of the Cheiron Suite exposes all the orignal roof timbers and was designed with roof windows to maximise the view when reclined in bed.

40 minutes by car or only 5 by helicopter - take your pick.

The big table seats 18 and now has shade running the length of it. This is the barbecue terrace where a great stainless steel barbecue proves it is possible to cook perfectly alfresco and dispels the myth that you need charcoal to get that unique flavour.

As Autumn turns to Winter the sky becomes ever more dramatic. This was taken with no filters or polarisers and has not been retouched - it is exactly as taken, and proved to be the shepherds delight it promised.

Our gardens are more wild than formal, and all the closer to nature for it.

A truly special location for a truly memorable occasion.

A challenging walk up the mountain behind Le Foulon rewards you with this vista of the Mediterranean and Cap Antibes. Take a pic-nic, spend an hour soaking in the view and your soul will be truly reminded of the important things in life. Which is exactly what the best sort of holiday is all about.

On the right is Christoph - a legend round these parts: guide, market gardener, waiter and entertainer extraordinaire.

This is Bob the wedding DJ encouraging old and young alike to shake it on the dance floor. Alternatively make your own play lists on your iPod which plugs straight into our lounge hi-fi.

The swimming pool has plenty of space for all and meets the latest regulations on child safety. It is kept at a constant 28 degrees from April through October.

High above Le Foulon a couple of paragliders make like birds and seek out the thermals.

Monaco is about 1 hour 15 minutes and one of those places you have to visit in your lifetime. Even better when its the boat show, the tennis masters or the grands prix.

Whilst you could still be queuing for a hire car at Nice airport the smart money arrives by helicopter. And for around 100 euros per person its good value too.

We can host weddings for up to 70 guests at a sit down meal, or more if you are looking for an informal buffet style reception

Night of a thousand candles - on this particular occasion the courtyard was lit for a wedding.

The Foulon bar is a huge cross-section of highly polished elm. Let us mix you a cocktail when we are in b&b mode, or become your own expert bar man when renting the whole place as a self-catered villa.

As the eagle flies this is our nearest village. Cipieres has one great little restaurant, a small shop with indeterminant opening hours and buckets of charm.

40 minutes from Nice International airport and easy to spot.

The large dining room has a panoramic vista of the gardens and the mountain beyond. We can add or take-away tables to suit the size of your group.

The barbecue terrace, in between the dining room balcony and the swimming pool, offers plenty of shade for an alfresco lunch

Accessed from the dining room the balcony has uninterupted views of the countryside and is a great sun trap for a lazy afternoon.

Birthdays, anniversarys, or no excuse at all - Le Foulon is the perfect place for a celebration with friends and family.

Gourdon is just up the road and with views like these it becomes everyones favourite place.

Spring, all the way through summer sees the garden burst into a riot of wild colour

Pictures never portray the size and grandeur of the bar and lounge area.

Taken looking north this shot does a good job of capturing the scale of Mount Cheiron rising behind Le Foulon, which is the small white spot at the bottom of the picture. We are situated at 550 metres above sea level, whilst the mountain peaks at 1800.

Antibes is 45 minutes drive and a lovely place to visit. Take a stroll round the impressive harbour and explore the old town. We can recommend a few restaurants to get the most from your day.

After a hearty meal Winter evenings are generally spent round the ingle-nook fireplace. The weather in Winter time is a lot like a ski resort on a good day - hot sunshine and crisp blue skies followed by cold nights and sparkling stars.

The dining room is a cosy place to host a celebration or simply to enjoy a fine meal with good company, whatever time of the year.

Autumn is a great time to visit Provence - the weather remains wonderful, the crowds have parted and the colours have you reaching for your camera at every turn. This is at the top of our drive.
